More about BLESS

Our Mandate

The Big Lake Environment Support Society (BLESS) is a registered charity and non-profit organization in Alberta. The society's major objective is the conservation of the Big Lake wetlands, through advocacy, public education, stewardship of Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park and data collection programs. BLESS is a regional organization, with membership coming mainly from each of the four municipalities bordering the Big Lake wetlands.

International Migratory Bird Day

In early May we host an International Migratory Bird Day at the shelter and parking lot of the Park. Watch our website and Facebook page for notices. Typical presentations include live birds from Beaver Hill Bird Observatory and Alberta Environment, Nature Alberta, City of St. Albert, City of Edmonton aquatic explorations, and local birders to describe what is in the area.

Summer Nature Interpretation

During July and August we put on daily nature interpretation tours along the John E. Poole Boardwalk, the BLESS observation platform and trails in the park. Sign up on our Summer Nature Facebook page.
